Peace, tranquility, serenity. All of humanity craves peace. Since the fall, all of creation has cried out for it. I am part of that creation. As a simple woman from very humble beginnings and often painful and traumatic memories, I have longed, in the depths of my soul, for peace. I have found it in Jesus. The Spirit of Christ gives to each of us gifts, spiritual, natural, even supernatural, in the hopes that we would use those gifts to edify the church, to help save His lost ones. However, He also gives them to us because He knows that, oftentimes, we will need to be edified ourselves. Art was one of the first gifts bestowed on me by my Creator. When I was younger, I simply enjoyed it. I loved creating. The older I became, the more I realized that I needed it. Creating brings me peace, teaches me lessons, and helps me to communicate with both God and people. Creating is how I worship the Lord and commune with Him. It is also how I commune with His people. Art, for me, is a source of healing. It reaches to the depths of the most intimate parts of ourselves, the parts that are closest to God. I became an artist first because I enjoyed making art. After many stagnant years, I became an artist again because my soul was never closer to the Lord than when I worshipped Him in my private studio. I need the peace that comes from making art, and I am hopeful that by embracing the tools that the Lord has given me fully, I may truly begin to lead others to Christ through the inspiration of art. There is no truer love, no deeper peace, than what we find in Christ Jesus.
