Full of Inspiration

Artist block- you know that annoying thing that hits you at the height of what you thought was a good idea. I'm sitting in my house the other day thinking I'm gonna be soooo productive. I ended up on Facebook instead watching funny videos. By the time I looked up, TWO HOURS had gone by. I'm thinking to myself, I'm never gonna get out of this slump. I'm too distracted. I've got all of these ideas, but they're overwhelming me to the point that I don't even know where to start. It's just easier to not start at all. Of course that's not feasible. You don't work, you don't eat right? So I wonder what can I do to become more productive? The answer is simple, let go of it all and relax. It's ok for artists to step back from productivity and enjoy just living sometimes. After this realization, I took some time to reflect on my life and simply enjoy my peace. Soon, inspiration flooded in, and I now have great shows in the works- shows I'd put on the back burner ages ago.
The moral of the story, my advice to all the young artists out there, is that sometimes it's necessary to take a step back and just enjoy living. Don't be afraid to take some time to go on a trip, see family, journal, go to the movies, or even just do a little drawing for fun (no deadlines!). Take care of you and you will be the best artist you can be.
